No Good Deed…
Today was to be my second “long day” of chemo – two drugs taking about 6 hours.
I was home in under 3 hours.
Funny thing… you need to have a few white blood cells to get chemo – and I am lacking a couple hundred or so of them.
If you remember, last week they were worried about my red count – which bounced back in my normal super-human fashion to 400,000 (strong like bull) – but the whites are a bit lazy this week. I think the nurse said I was at 40 and they want me at 1,000 – something like that. Net-net… no chemo for you!
I now have to get three shots (Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday) to jump start my marrow to produce more white cells. The beauty of this little detour is that it may cause bone pain. I’m hoping it isn’t too bad and I can just take some Tylenol. But, if I have to go all DEFCON 1 on it I have some Lortabs I can dip into. Wheee…
So it puts me back a week and I’ll have to adjust my calendar. The good news is if I can get back on a schedule then I’ll be on my off week during Christmas – which should make it a bit more fun.
I’ll keep you in the loop if anything changes but for now – it’s just waiting for my marrow to do it’s thang…
