Wanna make God laugh? Tell him your plans.
Yeah… we had a plan. Chemo for 12 weeks then 4 weeks off then surgery. That didn’t happen.
Then it was no more chemo and surgery on February 6, 2013.
Well, God must be laughing like crazy ‘cuz that ain’t happening either.

Mark your calendars (again) for January 15th – 8:30 a.m. That’s my newest and most reliable date for when I’ll be getting my surgery. They called today (Monday) and said they had a cancellation in one of the operating rooms and I was the #1 draft pick. I have a pre-op meeting with the gas-man (anesthesiologist) this Thursday at 9:30 a.m. to get the run down.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… the future is easy – the present is a bitch. And this is pretty close to being the present. I’ve gone from having surgery sometime in March to having surgery NEXT FREAKIN’ week! Needless to say I’m just a tad bit nervous. But it is what it is and I’m sure that I’ll do fine and the surgeon will do a great job.
From everything I’ve heard I’ll be in the hospital for at least 4 days – maybe more depending (I think they have wi-fi so I can maybe get a post out quickly) and then back home to recuperate. Don’t worry I won’t be live-blogging or live-tweeting the event.
I will ask that you rub your talismans, say a prayer, cross your fingers and toes and throw a few shekels in the closest fountain for luck next Tuesday. I’m not too proud to take all the positive vibes the universe can provide.
If anything new comes out of my meeting Thursday you’ll be the second to know.
In keeping with my practice of giving you something fun and interesting in these posts other than my old man ailments, yet in keeping with the theme of the post, below are a couple of Rod Stewart videos for the song “The First Cut is the Deepest.” Interesting to see the “old” and the hilarious “young” Rod. And I mean HILARIOUS, bold, capitalized and underlined. Watch the second video all the way through for the best parts. Who gave him that kind of direction?
